How to Connect to God

You can connect to God with these 3 easy steps:

  1. Salvation
  2. Reading God’s Word
  3. Worship God

1. Salvation:

ABC’s of Salvation

How do I become a Christian?  It’s as easy as your ABC’s:

Admit that you’re a sinner.

Believe that Jesus is God’s Son.

Confess your sins and ask Jesus into your heart.

–We have all sinned.  Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

–The results of our sin is death.  Romans 6:23 says When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives us a free gift—life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord.

–So God, because of His love for us, sent Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty of our sins.  Romans 5:8 says “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

–To receive Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins we must not only believe in God, but ask Him to save us from our sins (that makes Him SAVIOR) and then rule and reign in and over our lives (that makes Him LORD).  Romans 10:9-10 says: If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. [10] For it is by our faith that we are put right with God; it is by our confession that we are saved.

Will you ask Jesus into your heart today?  Just pray this prayer, and you will be saved:

Dear God:  I realize that I’m a sinner and I can’t save myself.  I believe you sent your Son Jesus to die on the cross to take the penalty of my sins.  I ask Jesus now to come into my life and save my soul, and guide and direct my life from this point on as my Lord.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

What is Baptism?

Water baptism is a public declaration of our identification with Jesus and His death, burial and resurrection. By getting baptized you are publicly saying to those around you that you have died to yourself and have decided to follow Christ.

 2.  Reading God’s Word – the Bible

S.O.A.P – Our Bible Reading & Study Plan

As we read God’s words, we begin to see how God responds to things. Doing daily devotions trains us to think differently and transforms the spirit of the mind. Then when we face similar situations, we begin to respond in the same way.

Journaling is an excellent way to record and process what God has spoken to us. Without writing it down, you may forget those blessings and some very important lessons! While journaling is a very personal time with the Lord, you may want to share some of your daily journaling with your small group or mentors. Through discussion, you may be able to look deeper into what God is speaking to you, gain new insight and even encourage others.

Click here for a worksheet to aid you in your journaling process.

Scripture

Take time reading and allow God to speak to you. Look for a verse that particularly spoke to you and write it in your journal.

Observation

What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words in your journal.

Application

Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Write how this scripture can apply to you today.

Prayer

This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or it may be a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say and journal about it.
